Review of The Wedding People

A woman checks into a hotel to end her life and she surprisingly becomes friends with a bride to be. This is an interesting premise for a book. Phoebe goes to a stay at a luxurious hotel she can’t afford to commit suicide as her life is slowly falling apart and her mental health is suffering. She quickly learns that the whole hotel is booked by wedding guests except for her. Lila, the bride, soon realizes why Phoebe is there and tells her that she definitely can’t commit suicide during her wedding festivities. As the friendship between the two women evolves Phoebe begins to reexamine her life and she starts to develop a more optimistic view of it. This book is at times funny and also very poignant as Phoebe becomes a part of the wedding festivities and a community of people. The writing is exceptional and the cast of characters interesting. Definitely an engaging story!
